~INTRODUCTION~

Last Man Standing is HWA's equivalent of Royal Rumble and Wrestlemania lumped into one. It is the one time of year, and the one competition that draws together everyone in the HWA, and often brings in new and old faces alike. Such is the prestige of winning the Last Man Standing Tournament, many of the most well known E-Fedders around have at one time or other, competed in HWA Last Man Standing, and this year will take things to another level.

~HISTORY~

Last Man Standing was conceived by the former President, Vice-President and currently Comissioner of the HWA - "Awesome D" Anderson. He set up the first tournament in 2001, and it was how it would stay for four years, a 16 man straight knockout tournament. The first competition in 2001 was won by Danny Starr. Starr again picked up the accolade in 2002. In 2003 Last Man Standing was won by Ryan Maxem. In 2004, the HWA spent most of the year either closed, or without enough members to run the tournament when it was run by another management. Today, in 2005, the HWA is back to its roots and firing on all cylinders, and the time was right for the prestigious tournament to return.

~THE PRIZE~

The main prize for LMS is simply the prestige (and bragging rights!) of having won the competition. Two time LMS winner Danny Starr would certainly agree to this! In addition, the winner ALWAYS recevies a HWA World Heavyweight Title shot at the next HWA Pay Per View if they wish. If an 'outsider' wins the tournament then obviously they have the option to pass on this.

~THE FORMAT~

This year, the HWA is going to be in a slightly different format. For those familiar with the football (Soccer to you Americans!) world cup, forgive us for stealing the format! Round 1 will see 4 groups being created, each with 4 members. The people in a group will face one another once each in a round robin manner, one match per week. Wrestler A therefore will face Wrestler B on week 1, Wrestler C on week 2, and Wrestler D on week 3. Each match will be judged in the normal manner by HWA management. Where there is a clear winner, the winner is awarded 3 points, the loser is sent home without any! If the management team feel that the match is close, then both wrestlers get a draw, and 1 point each. This will be the case even if one wrestler has 'edged' it on the other. What we are looking for here are CLEAR winners. This cannot be emphasised enough, you CANNOT leave it to chance here.

~WHY THE CHANGE?~

Last Man Standing has some fantastic history behind it, so why did we change it? Well, many people are disappointed to hear that their first round match is against a certain person (perhaps that person is considered a superb roleplayer). This means that the management have the potential to weigh the board in the favour of some wrestlers. While this doesn't happen, some people are still disappointed to be booked against others and complain about it. In this new system, not only is nobody out on the first match, they get two more to prove themselves. This also prevents 'fluke' wins, or means that if something crops up in real life, they are not automatically out.

~WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?~

After each wrestler has faced the other 3 in their group, it will be down to points. The top two out of the four in each group go through to Round 2. From round 2 onwards, the normal knockout tournament rules apply, and this continues through to the end. The Semi Finals and Finals will be, as per tradition, all played out at the Pay Per View on the 20th November. Positioning in the Second Round will depend on your finishing position in the group. The WINNER of group 1, will face the RUNNER UP of group 2. The WINNER of group 2, faces the RUNNER UP of group 1. The same will apply to groups 3 and 4. This means that aiming for the top of your group is certainly worthwhile, as doing so means you'll face a weaker opponent in the next round.

~CAN I ENTER LAST MAN STANDING?~

Unfortunately, no. The 16 people are already now in place. Congratulations and good luck to the 16 who managed to get selected. The group placings will be announced within the next couple of days. Thanks.
